Biography

Craig Wilcox is a Republican Illinois State Senator representing the 32nd District, which includes all or parts of Antioch, Bull Valley, Crystal Lake, Fox Lake, Greenwood, Harvard, Johnsburg, Lake Villa, Lakemoor, Marengo, McHenry, Spring Grove, Volo, Wonder Lake, and Woodstock. Born in 1967 or 1968 in El Paso, Texas, and raised in Essex Junction, Vermont, he moved to McHenry, Illinois, after retiring from the U.S. Air Force in 2013. He and his wife, Janice, have three children and own The Thoughtfulness Shop and My Little Bow Peeps Shop on the historic Woodstock Square; they volunteer at veterans’ events, school activities, and local festivals. Wilcox was appointed to the Illinois Senate on October 1, 2018, following service on the McHenry County Board from 2016-2018. Notable achievements include a 24-year U.S. Air Force career as a Colonel, commanding units three times—including the 52nd Combat Communications Squadron post-9/11 and the 89th Airlift Support Group at Joint Base Andrews —with service in Afghanistan, Iraq, Southeast Asia, Kosovo, Libya, and worldwide; he earned two Bronze Stars and the Legion of Merit. He serves as Minority Spokesperson for Veterans Affairs and Labor Committees, and on Commerce, Education, Higher Education, Local Government, and Transportation Committees.
