Biography
Craig Bartley Richardson is a Republican member of the Kentucky Senate representing District 3, which includes Caldwell, Christian, and Muhlenberg Counties. A seventh-generation resident of Christian County and native of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, he was elected unopposed in the 2024 Kentucky Senate election following the retirement of incumbent Whitney Westerfield and took office in January 2025. He lives in Hopkinsville with his wife, Katie , and their daughter, Collins. Richardson is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, has served a two-year church mission in Brazil, and coordinates regional church initiatives. Notable achievements include serving as President of the Christian County Bar Association and co-chairing the Kentucky Mountain Regional Recreational Authority.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Kentucky in 2010 and a Juris Doctor from the University of Memphis in 2017. Graduate of University Heights Academy in Hopkinsville.
- Professional Background: Local attorney practicing with Richardson and Craig , focusing on estate planning, real estate transactions, bankruptcy, guardianship, and disability issues. Previously worked in real estate management and practices law with his father, Michael A. Richardson.
- Political Experience: Appointed to five committees in the 2025 Kentucky General Assembly: Agriculture; Appropriations & Revenue; Enrollment; Health Services ; and Veterans, Military Affairs, & Public Protection. Advocates for healthcare reform, veterans’ rights, agricultural development, better healthcare outcomes, and economic growth. Key issues include creating prosperity for Kentuckians.
