Biography
Senator Craig Hickman ** represents **Maine Senate District 14 in Kennebec County, including the communities of Chelsea, Farmingdale, Gardiner, Hallowell, Manchester, Monmouth, Pittston, Randolph, Readfield, Wayne, West Gardiner, and Winthrop. Born on December 8, 1967, he is an organic farmer, small business owner operating a farm and bed and breakfast with his husband, poet, chef, author, and the first Black lawmaker to serve in both chambers of the Maine Legislature. Notable achievements include spearheading Maine's first "Right to Food" amendment to the state constitution and winning re-election in 2024 against Republican Shannon McDonnell. He currently chairs the Veterans and Legal Affairs Committee and Government Oversight Committee, and serves on the Senate Conduct and Ethics Committee.
