Courtney S. Waters is a Democratic member of the South Carolina House of Representatives, representing District 113 in Charleston County. Born on September 19 in Flint, Michigan, she has one child named Yara and resides in the district, where she has lived for a decade. A lifelong public servant and non-profit executive, Waters serves on the House Medical, Military, Public and Municipal Affairs Committee. Notable achievements include her election in a special election on March 25, 2025, following a Democratic primary win on January 21, 2025, and her prior service as a Charleston County School Board Trustee from 2020 to 2024. She is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., an Urban Land Institute REDI Charleston Fellow , and a mentor in the College of Charleston Teacher Leader Program .
