Biography
Cory V. McCray is a Democratic member of the Maryland State Senate representing District 45 in northeast Baltimore City. A union electrician, entrepreneur, husband, and father of three, he owns McCray Properties, LLC, and has been affiliated with Local 24 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers since 2003.
Notable achievements include spearheading over 60 pieces of legislation, such as restoring voting rights for over 40,000 Marylanders , raising the minimum wage, increasing transportation funding, reducing pollutants, securing SNAP benefits, and improving library access. He served as acting Chair and 1st Vice-Chair of the Maryland Democratic Party , was named one of the most effective freshman legislators by Center Maryland, a "legislator to watch" by the Daily Record and Maryland Matters, and received The Arc Maryland's Legislator of the Year award in 2025. Current roles include Deputy Majority Whip , Chair of the Health & Human Services Subcommittee, and member of the Budget and Taxation Committee.
