Senator Cordell Cleare

Cordell Cleare is a Democratic New York State Senator representing the 30th Senate District. Cleare was raised in Harlem, where her family has lived for four generations, making her deeply rooted in the community she represents. She is a 2025 Women of Distinction Honoree and a 2025 New York State Senate Veterans' Hall of Fame Honoree.

Political Experience

Cleare has a background in state government staff work. She previously served on the Community District 3 Education Council from 2004 to 2007, gaining experience in local education policy before transitioning to the state legislature.

Current Position and Responsibilities

In the New York State Senate, Cleare holds the position of Chair of the Committee on Aging, reflecting her role in advocating for senior citizens in her district. She also serves on the Senate Select Majority Task Force on Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprises.
