Consuelo Hernandez is a proud graduate of the Sunnyside School District and has deep roots in the Sunnyside community. Over the past ten years, she has been an outspoken activist focused on education equity, transparency, and accountability across various levels of government.

Her advocacy work extends beyond her local community. She has hosted free citizenship workshops, worked in Panama and Ghana to establish free clinics, and fundraised for DACA renewal paperwork. These efforts demonstrate her long track record of supporting vulnerable and underserved populations.

Education

Hernandez holds a B.A. in Global Health from Arizona State University. As a young minority student, she personally experienced the challenges of navigating the college system with few resources and minimal guidance, which shaped her commitment to mentoring at-risk youth and bridging educational gaps.

Political Experience

Hernandez currently serves on the Sunnyside Unified School District, where she works to build a strong educational foundation for all students in the district. In the Arizona House of Representatives, she has sponsored legislation addressing key issues including school bullying policies, environmental sustainability, and appropriations measures.
