Biography
Connie Steinmetz is a Democratic member of the Missouri House of Representatives representing District 87. She was elected in 2024 and assumed office on January 8, 2025, succeeding Paula Brown. Born in Kansas City, Kansas, she is a retired public school teacher and trade union leader who has lived in the St. Louis area for over 40 years, including the last 14 in Maryland Heights. She is married with three daughters; her mother-in-law, Kaye Steinmetz, served 18 years in the Missouri House.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Attended University of Missouri, Columbia, and Maryville University.
- Professional Background: Dedicated educator and advocate for public education, working families, and strong communities. Served on the Board of Directors and Political Action Committee of Missouri NEA, attending state and national conferences. Executive Board member of the North County Labor Club, supporting organized labor and union members.
- Political Experience: Active in local, regional, and state politics for decades. Served as committeewoman for Lewis and Clark Township Democrats; secretary and president of Independent Democrats in Florissant. Helped elect candidates to school boards, municipal governments, and the state legislature through roles with Hazelwood NEA, Missouri NEA, and North County Labor. Collaborated with elected officials across the St. Louis area and Missouri.
