Biography
Colin W. Jack
Colin W. Jack is a Republican member of the Utah House of Representatives representing District 73, which encompasses Washington County. He began his legislative service in July 2022, initially serving as interim representative for District 62 before being elected to represent District 73.
Jack identifies as a free market constitutional conservative and has emphasized his commitment to the Republican Party platform throughout his tenure in office. He was born in Provo, Utah, and is a Christian.
Education
Jack graduated from Brigham Young University in 1987 with a degree in Electrical Engineering.
Political Experience
Jack has an extensive background in Republican Party activism prior to his election to the legislature:
- Served as Precinct Chair, Legislative District Chair, and County Vice Chair for the Washington County Republican Party
- Served multiple terms on the Utah Republican Party State Central Committee
- Held positions on the UTGOP Convention Rules Committee and Caucus/Convention Committee
- Participated in the WCRP Bylaws Committee
As a state representative, Jack serves on several committees and working groups, including the Economic Development and Workforce Services Interim Committee, Infrastructure and General Government Appropriations Subcommittee, and The Energy Council of Energy Producing States. He is also involved with the National Council of State Legislatures Energy Security Working Group and the American Legislative Exchange Council Energy and Agriculture Subcommittee.
Jack has received recognition for his legislative work, including the Utah Taxpayers Association 2023 Friend of the Taxpayer award and multiple Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce Legislative Business Champion awards.
Professional Background
Since 1988, Jack has worked as an electrical power engineer for non-profit rural electric cooperatives. He currently serves as Chief Operating Officer at Dixie Power, a position he has held since 2009.
