Biography
Colin Allred is an American politician, civil rights attorney, and former professional football player. Born on April 15, 1983, in Dallas, Texas, he was raised by his single mother, a public school teacher. Allred attended Hillcrest High School, where he was class president and earned a full-ride football scholarship to Baylor University. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in history, he played linebacker for the Tennessee Titans in the NFL for four seasons. Following his football career, Allred pursued a law degree at the University of California, Berkeley, graduating in 2014. He then worked as a civil rights attorney and served in the Obama administration at the Department of Housing and Urban Development. In 2018, Allred was elected as the U.S. Representative for Texas's 32nd Congressional District, defeating incumbent Pete Sessions. He was re-elected in 2020 and 2022, serving three terms in Congress. In 2024, Allred ran for the U.S. Senate, challenging Republican Senator Ted Cruz, but was defeated in the general election. He has announced plans to run again for the Senate in 2026. ,
