Biography

Cody Huneycutt

Cody Huneycutt is an American politician serving as a Republican member of the North Carolina House of Representatives, representing District 67, which encompasses Montgomery and Stanly counties. He was first elected to the House in 2024, succeeding retiring incumbent Wayne Sasser. His candidacy has been based on a commitment to serve these counties through positively impactful policies and common sense approaches to governance.

Education

Huneycutt earned a Bachelor's degree in History and Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2014.

Political Experience

Huneycutt has extensive legislative experience in North Carolina state government. He has served as a Legislative and Research Assistant at the North Carolina General Assembly since 2015, where he has developed expertise across multiple policy areas. During his time in this role, he assisted and advised on policy within several key committees, including Finance, Unemployment Insurance, Banking and Revenue Laws, Health, and Appropriations.

His legislative priorities have centered on tax reduction and limiting government expansion. He has worked on six tax packages that resulted in tax cuts for North Carolina taxpayers and has focused on securing funds directly invested in Stanly and Montgomery counties. Additionally, Huneycutt has supported healthcare policy initiatives, including H.B. 163, which he believed would help lower drug costs for North Carolinians.
