Biography
Clint Okerlund is a Republican representing District 42 in the Utah House of Representatives, assuming office on January 1, 2025, after defeating Democratic candidate Travis Smith in the 2024 election with 54.5% of the vote. Born and raised in rural Richfield, Utah, he grew up in a rural community before serving a mission, marrying, and raising a family in the Salt Lake area. Professionally, he has extensive experience in finance, including roles at Zions Bank and 14 years at Bank of America, and currently serves as Chief Financial Officer at a startup biotech laboratory in Sandy, Utah. He is committed to fiscal responsibility, economic growth, and effective government, and serves on the House Committee on Transportation, House Committee on Revenue and Taxation, and Subcommittee on Economic and Community Development Appropriations. His next election is in 2026.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Earned a B.A. in Business Management from Brigham Young University in 2001; M.B.A. from the University of Notre Dame in 2004.
- Political Experience: Active Republican Party delegate for eight years prior to election; first elected to the Utah House in 2024; began legislative service January 1, 2025.
