Biography
Cleopatra G. Tucker is a Democratic Assemblywoman representing New Jersey's 28th Legislative District, which includes parts of Essex and Union counties such as Hillside, Irvington, Maplewood, Newark, and South Orange. A 16-year veteran of the New Jersey General Assembly, she has served since 2008 and is seeking her 9th term as a full-time legislator. Notable positions include Chair of the Assembly Military and Veterans’ Affairs Committee, member of the Human Services and Telecommunications Utilities committees, and past role as Speaker Pro Tempore. Key achievements encompass strong support for reproductive freedom, Medicaid expansion, and election security, highlighted by her vote against the Election Transparency Act to protect New Jersey's voting process.
