He attended local public schools and was an honor roll student and star athlete. After graduating high school as valedictorian in 1998, Clark went on to study political science at Vanderbilt University on a full scholarship. In college, Clark got involved in student government and community organizations. He led voter registration drives and organized events to raise money for local charities. During his senior year, Clark interned for a state senator in the Tennessee legislature. This experience sparked his interested in running for political office after graduation. After completing his Bachelor's degree, Clark returned to Nashville to attend law school at Vanderbilt University Law School.
