Cindy Hyde-Smith, born on May 10, 1959, in Brookhaven, Mississippi, is a Republican U.S. Senator representing Mississippi. She made history as the first woman to represent Mississippi in Congress. Before her tenure in the U.S. Senate, Hyde-Smith served as the Mississippi Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce from 2012 to 2018, becoming the first woman elected to that position.
