Biography
Charles Anthony "Chuck" Owen is a Republican State Representative for Louisiana House District 30, representing portions of Beauregard and Vernon Parishes. A native of Louisiana, he was born in New Orleans and adopted at six weeks old by Creighton and Gloria Owen of Leesville. He graduated from Leesville High School in 1981, where he was a varsity letterman in three sports, earned All-District football honors, and contributed to two state championship track and field teams. Owen served 20 years as a U.S. Air Force officer, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel after deployments to four wartime engagements. His occupation is listed as consultant, adjunct faculty member, and retired military officer. Notable achievements include authoring legislation on licensure reform, free speech, military/veteran support, and adoption rights; receiving a congressional-level award in 2023 for enabling adopted citizens' access to original birth certificates; sponsoring Governor Landry's 2024 "Let Teachers Teach Bill" to reduce teacher training burdens; the "Cash is King" bill requiring cash acceptance at state universities and airports; and a 2024 law ensuring no patient is left alone in hospitals or nursing homes during emergencies. He serves on committees including Appropriations, Education, and Municipal, Parochial and Cultural Affairs; chairs the House Select Committee on Military and Veterans Affairs; and vice-chairs the House Select Committee on Homeland Security.

Active in Central Louisiana Delegation Caucus, Louisiana Republican Legislative Delegation, and Louisiana Rural Caucus. Community roles include volunteer assistant coach , radio broadcaster for high school football, AAU basketball coach , and leadership in churches, chambers of commerce, and Lions Club.
