Biography
Chuck Kopp is a Republican representing Alaska House District 10 . Born around 1964/1965 in Anchorage, Alaska, he is a lifelong resident who grew up in Newhalen and Kenai . A retired police officer and self-employed public safety consultant, Kopp has over 20 years in law enforcement with the Anchorage, Kenai, and Bristol Bay Borough Police Departments. He served as Chief of Police in Kenai for seven years and acting city manager , and later as a certified polygraph examiner who resolved three homicides. Married to Trish for 37 years, they have three children and three grandchildren.
Notable achievements include advising Governors Sarah Palin and Frank Murkowski on public safety transitions, serving as chief of staff for two Alaska Senators , and gubernatorial appointments to the Alaska Judicial Council and Alaska Police Standards Council . Elected to the Alaska House in 2016 for District 24 , he won District 10 in 2024 with 61.6% of the vote and was seated in the 34th Legislature . He co-founded Winfluence Strategies, a public affairs firm, and currently serves as House Majority Leader. Kopp prioritizes public safety, education, transportation, resource development, and energy security, and has written columns for Anchorage Daily News, Juneau Empire, and Peninsula Clarion.
