Biography

Christine Sinicki is a Democratic representative for Wisconsin's 20th Assembly District, elected in 1998 and the longest-serving member of the Wisconsin State Assembly. Born in Milwaukee on March 28, 1960, she was raised in the Bay View neighborhood, is married with two children and two grandchildren, and resides there with her husband Michael, two dogs, and two cats. A former small business manager and full-time legislator, she is a champion for voters' rights, women, veterans, workers, the LGBTQ+ community, gun safety reform, environmental protections, public education, and patient safety.

Education and Political Experience

  • Education: Graduate of Bay View High School; Bowhay Institute Fellow, La Follette School, University of Wisconsin-Madison ; Flemming Fellow, Center for Policy Alternatives .
  • Political Experience: Served on the Milwaukee School Board , becoming the youngest person ever elected to the board. Elected to the State Assembly since 1998 and re-elected every two years. Held roles including Minority Caucus Secretary , chair of Assembly Democratic Task Force on Working Families , chair of State Assembly Milwaukee Caucus , and Democratic Caucus Sergeant at Arms . Current assignments include committees on Consumer Protection, Education, Labor , State Affairs and Government Operations, and Veterans and Military Affairs. Appointed to State Minimum Wage Council . Founder of Legislative Democrats Labor Workgroup; member of Wisconsin State Fair Park District Board of Directors . Delegate to U.S. Presidential Electoral College and American Council of Young Political Leaders . Major in Wisconsin Wing, Civil Air Patrol Legislative Squadron.

Notable Achievements: Received awards including Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters Conservation Champion , Professional Firefighters of Wisconsin Legislator of the Year , Wisconsin Ob/Gyn Physicians’ Legislator of the Year , and Mothers Against Drunk Driving Legislator of the Year . Supports marijuana reform .
