Biography
Christine Drazan is a Republican state senator representing District 26 in the Oregon State Senate. Born in 1972 in Klamath Falls, Oregon, she is a lifelong Oregonian raised in rural southern Oregon, where she witnessed the timber industry's decline and its impact on families. A wife and mother, her leadership is guided by faith, family values, and a commitment to public service, focusing on empowering families, strengthening communities, and promoting accountability in government.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Earned a BA from George Fox University.
- Early Career: Served nearly a decade as a Republican staffer in the Oregon Capitol, including as chief of staff for House Speaker Mark Simmons; worked on her local school board’s budget committee and Clackamas County Planning Commission; adjunct professor and executive director of a nonprofit.
- Elected Service: Elected to the Oregon House of Representatives in 2018 ; rose quickly to House Republican Leader in 2019 by ousting the prior leader to revitalize GOP influence. In 2024, transitioned to the Oregon State Senate for District 26.
