Christina Morales is a Democratic Texas State Representative for District 145 in Harris County, Houston, first elected in a 2019 special election and sworn in on March 18, 2019, succeeding Carol Alvarado. Born April 13, 1968, she took over the family-owned Morales Funeral Home at age 23 after her grandmother's death, building it into a community pillar in Houston's Second Ward. She founded the Annual Morales Back to School Supplies Giveaway in 1997, now serving over 2,000 students yearly, and continues community events like food distributions and college readiness fairs. Notable achievements include authoring the first Ethnic Studies bill to pass the Texas House, passing consumer protection and crime victims' rights bills, authoring numerous bills across sessions , and leading quorum breaks against voter restrictions. She serves on the International Relations & Economic Development Committee , Criminal Jurisprudence Committee, and Resolutions Calendar Committee in the 88th Session, and previously on Corrections and Urban Affairs Committees. Morales is President and CEO of Morales Funeral Home and the Morales Memorial Foundation, with two children and twin grandsons.
