Biography
Chris Swedzinski is a Republican member of the Minnesota House of Representatives, representing District 15A in southwest Minnesota, which includes the city of Marshall and counties such as Lac qui Parle, Lyon, Yellow Medicine, and parts of Chippewa. Born on May 10, 1978, in Lyon County, he was raised on a farm near Taunton, is of Belgian and Polish ancestry, works as a farmer, owns a small welding business near Ghent, and is married to Jessica with five children. First elected in 2010 succeeding Marty Seifert, he has served continuously, representing Districts 21A , 16A , and 15A . Notable achievements include serving as assistant majority leader , chairing the Subcommittee on Mining, Forestry, & Tourism , and current roles as co-chair of the Energy Finance and Policy Committee, plus membership on Taxes and Ways and Means committees. His platform emphasizes cutting taxes, reducing government size, and empowering individuals.
Education and Political Experience
Education: Graduated from Minneota High School; attended Ridgewater College ; earned B.S. in history and B.S. in political science from Minnesota State University, Mankato.
Political Experience: Elected to Minnesota House in 2010 ; reelected every two years; leadership roles include assistant majority leader and subcommittee chair ; current minority lead or co-chair on key committees focused on energy, climate, taxes, and ways and means.
