Chris Runion is a Republican member of the Virginia House of Delegates representing the 35th district, which includes parts of Augusta, Bath, Highland, and Rockingham counties. Born in 1958 in Harrisonburg, Virginia, he grew up on a farm in the Shenandoah Valley and is a lifelong conservative. He is married to Jennifer Marie Long Runion, with two sons, Marshall and Joshua, and is a member of the Bridgewater United Methodist Church.

Education and Political Experience

• Education: Earned a B.S. in Accounting from Virginia Tech in 1980 and an M.B.A. from James Madison University in 1984.
• Professional Background: Worked for a large poultry company, later became President/CEO of Eddie Edwards Signs, Inc., and served on the board of Farmer and Merchants Bank .
• Community Leadership: Former president of the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Chamber of Commerce, former vice chair of Rockingham County Republicans, former chairman of Rockingham County Planning Commission, past district governor of Rotary, former chairman of Shenandoah Valley Economic Education, former member of NFIB State Leadership Council, and active in the Greater Augusta Chamber of Commerce.
• Political Career: First elected in 2019 to the 25th district after winning the Republican primary and general election with 58.1% of the vote; switched to the 35th district by 2024.
