Biography
Chris Measmer is a Republican state senator representing District 34 in North Carolina, which includes Cabarrus County. Appointed on April 8, 2025, to complete the unexpired term of resigned Senator Paul Newton, he serves on committees including Agriculture, Energy and Environment; Appropriations on General Government and Information Technology; Judiciary; Regulatory Reform; and State and Local Government. Born and raised in Cabarrus County with family roots tracing back to 1817, Measmer owns Wayside Family Restaurant and previously served as a two-term Cabarrus County Commissioner and Chairman, as well as Vice-Chair of the North Carolina National Federation of Independent Business , advocating for small businesses and limited government regulations. Notable positions include support for bills like Iryna's Law, defunding Planned Parenthood, firearm law revisions, and the Criminal Illegal Alien Enforcement Act.
