Biography
Chris Mattos is a Republican state senator representing the Chittenden-North District in the Vermont Senate, serving since January 2025. Born in Burlington, Vermont, he is a lifelong resident of Milton in Chittenden County, where he lives with his wife Kari, son Cash, and dog Riggins. A small business owner in property management, residential real estate, and excavation, and a licensed real estate salesperson, he is affiliated with the Northwest Vermont Board of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors. Notable achievements include his 2024 election victory over incumbent Irene Wrenner, prior service in the Vermont House from 2017-2024 , and committee roles such as Clerk on Senate Finance and Judiciary, Senate Ethics Panel, and Canvassing Committee; previously on House Ways and Means, Education, and Discrimination Prevention Panel. He also serves on Milton’s Board of Civil Authority, as a Justice of the Peace, and as Vice President of the Milton Family Community Center Board.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated from Milton High School; earned a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Vermont.
- Political Experience: Appointed to Vermont House in 2017, elected three times , served until 2024; elected to Senate in 2024 for term ending January 2027; focuses on fiscal responsibility, education, community development, economic growth, public health, and bipartisan collaboration.
