Biography

Chris Johnson is a Republican State Senator representing District 44 in the Mississippi State Senate. He is an entrepreneur in financial services and real estate, owner of several small businesses in southeast Mississippi, and father of two children, Brennan and Emma Kathryn. One of the youngest members of the Mississippi Senate, he has been recognized as a "Top 12 Under 40" by the Hattiesburg American newspaper. Notable achievements include securing over $10 million for economic development projects and infrastructure in his district, serving as a Fellow of the Civil Society Fellowship , and being a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network. He has supported legislation to eliminate the corporate franchise tax, reduce individual income tax, and protect local farmers' rights.

Education and Political Experience

  • Education: Graduate of Forrest County Agricultural High School , Pearl River Community College, and The University of Southern Mississippi.
  • Political Experience: Served in the Mississippi House of Representatives from 2016-2020, then elected to the State Senate for the 2020-2024 term . Currently chairs the Constitution Committee and vice chairs the Finance Committee. Additional committee roles include Economic and Workforce Development, Insurance, and Investigate State Offices. Previously served as treasurer and secretary of the Carnes Rural Water Board, overseeing water system expansions for rural households. Based in Hattiesburg, MS.
