Chris Eachus is a Democratic Assembly Member representing New York's 99th Assembly District in the Hudson Valley region, including parts of Orange County such as New Windsor and Newburgh.

Christopher William Eachus was born on October 8, 1955, in San Mateo, California. He spent early years in California and Peru before settling on Long Island with his family. A longtime Hudson Valley resident for over 45 years, particularly in New Windsor for 30 years, he is married to Kim for over 30 years and has four children and five grandchildren. Eachus has dedicated his career to education and public service, including extensive veteran support as Orange County Commander and Vice-Commander of Sons of the American Legion Squadron 1796, member of the 18th Congressional Veterans Advisory Board, and organizer of the annual Pearl Harbor Day Commemoration in Newburgh. Notable achievements include eliminating an unnecessary municipal tax, maintaining or reducing Orange County property tax rates during his tenure, serving as Scout BSA District Chair to help save Camp Bullowa from development, and advising community boards like the Newburgh Salvation Army and Greater Newburgh Optimist Club . He also belongs to the Quassaick Creek Watershed Association and is a union member of NYSUT for 36 years.

Education and Political Experience

Eachus attended SUNY Cortland and Cornell University for four years, earning a master’s degree from SUNY New Paltz. He taught high school Advanced Placement physics, math, and Earth Science for 40 years in the Hudson Valley, retiring from Newburgh Free Academy in 2015. Post-retirement, he continued as an advisor for the school's Concept Vehicle Racing Team , achieving three national championships and world qualifications . Politically, he served as an Orange County Legislator from 2006 for 12 years before his election to the New York State Assembly representing the 99th District.
