Biography
Christopher P. DePhillips is a Republican member of the New Jersey General Assembly representing the 40th District. Born on March 30, 1965, he is a resident of Wyckoff, Bergen County. He is married to Patti and has four children.
Education
DePhillips earned a bachelor's degree in government from Georgetown University in 1987 and a law degree from Seton Hall University School of Law in 1992.
Political Experience
DePhillips has served in the New Jersey General Assembly since 2018. Currently, he holds the position of Conference Leader, a role he assumed in January 2024. He previously served as assistant minority leader from 2022 to 2023 and as deputy minority leader in 2021. He serves on the Assembly Transportation Committee and the Science, Innovation & Technology Committee, and is Vice-Chair of the Assembly Republican Victory Committee.
Before his state legislative career, DePhillips served on the Wyckoff Township Committee from 2010 to 2013, including as deputy mayor in 2011 and mayor in 2012. He also served as a commissioner of the Northwest Bergen County Utilities Authority from 2012 to 2017 and chaired the 40th District Republican County Committee from 2014 to 2019.
In his legislative work, DePhillips has focused on reducing the tax burden in New Jersey, incentivizing the innovation economy, and preventing the migration of executives and jobs to competitor states. In 2024, he became a partner at the law firm Bernstein DePhillips & Kalosieh.
