Representative Chris Croft
Chris Croft is a Republican representing District 8 in the Kansas House of Representatives, which covers the southwestern portion of Overland Park, Kansas. He serves as House Majority Leader , chairs the House Redistricting Committee, and is vice chair of the House Insurance and Pensions Committee.
Christopher D. Croft Sr. is a retired U.S. Army colonel with 30 years of service, including two deployments to Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom , where he commanded Task Force 106 with 1,440 National Guard soldiers. He retired in 2018 as Executive Director of the Army’s Center for Army Leadership at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, after leading organizations across 22 countries.
Elected to the Kansas House in 2018 after defeating incumbent Republican Patty Markley in the primary , he was re-elected in 2020. Notable achievements include authoring reciprocal occupational licensing legislation to expedite licenses for out-of-state professionals, co-authoring bills to create a Soldier’s Home, eliminate grocery sales taxes, freeze property taxes for seniors/disabled veterans/low-income earners, and streamline property tax appeals. As Redistricting Chair, he conducted public listening tours in 25 Kansas locations. He has also streamlined Republican fundraising, set records, and organized a historic joint House-Senate-GOP event.
Croft is married to Connie , with two children and six grandchildren.
