Representative Chea Waters Evans

Chea Waters Evans is a Democratic member of the Vermont House of Representatives representing the Chittenden-5 District, which includes Charlotte and a section of Hinesburg. She has served in this position since 2023. Evans moved to Vermont when she was 10 years old and has established herself as an active legislator focused on government ethics and animal welfare.

Education

Evans graduated from Charlotte Central School and Champlain Valley Union High School in Vermont.

Political Experience

Evans completed her first term as state representative for the Chittenden-5 District. During her tenure, she served on the House Government Operations and Military Affairs Committee. She has prioritized two major legislative efforts: one concerning government ethics and another that established a Department of Animal Welfare in Vermont.

Before entering politics, Evans worked in fiction writing, publishing, and journalism. She first ran for office two years before her election, ultimately being confirmed unopposed to represent her district in the 2022 elections.
