Charlie Schmidt is a Democratic member of the Virginia House of Delegates representing the 77th District, which includes parts of Chesterfield County and the City of Richmond. Born in 1975 in Houston, he is a male Caucasian attorney who began his term on January 17, 2026. A self-described progressive Democrat and former ACLU attorney, Schmidt won the Democratic nomination for the 77th District in a firehouse primary, defeating former Richmond City Council President Michelle Mosby , securing the seat in a special election to replace Del. Mike Jones.
