Biography
Charles Skold
Charles Skold is a Democratic state representative from Portland, Maine, representing House District 119, which includes Peaks Island and part of Portland. He has served in the Maine House of Representatives since December 2022 and is currently in his second term.
Growing up in Freeport, Maine, Skold graduated from high school in 2007. He is an active community member who volunteers with the Portland Climate Action Team, the St. Luke's Public Policy and Environmental Action Team, and Greater Portland Family Promise. Additionally, he earned the rank of Eagle Scout with Troop 45 in Freeport.
In his professional life, Skold works as a negotiation consultant and trainer, instructing business leaders in negotiation practices. He has also worked with educational organizations that equip municipal leaders with skills for cross-sector collaboration and previously served in religious ministry as a college advisor.
Education
Skold earned his bachelor's degree in political science from Tufts University in 2011. He later completed graduate studies at Harvard University in 2019, obtaining a Master of Public Administration ** and a **Master of Theology.
Political Experience
Skold serves on the House Committee on Labor, which oversees the Department of Labor, wage and hour laws, working conditions, unemployment compensation, workers' compensation, labor relations, and professional licensing. He was first elected in November 2022 and was reelected in the 2024 election cycle, defeating Republican challenger Peter Doyle.
