Biography
Charles Perry is a Republican state senator representing District 28 in the Texas Senate, covering counties including Lubbock, Crosby, Floyd, Garza, Hale, Hockley, Lamb, Lynn, and Terry. A lifelong West Texan and practicing certified public accountant from Lubbock, he was elected to the Senate in 2014 after serving two terms in the Texas House of Representatives from 2010 to 2014. Notable achievements include chairing the Senate Committee on Water, Agriculture, and Rural Affairs; serving as vice-chair of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee; and membership on committees for Finance, State Affairs, Transportation, and others. He co-chairs the State Water Implementation Fund for Texas Advisory Committee and the Texas Infrastructure Resiliency Fund , and was appointed by Governor Abbott to the Southwestern States Water Commission and Western States Water Council. Perry authored the bill eliminating sanctuary cities in Texas and has been recognized as a principle-driven conservative, notably as the first freshman senator appointed to a chairmanship since 1993.
