Biography
Celeste Rodriguez is a Democrat representing California's 43rd Assembly District, which includes portions of Los Angeles County such as the City of San Fernando, Rancho Cascades, Sylmar, Pacoima, Arleta, Panorama City, Valley Glen, and Sun Valley. Raised in the Northeast San Fernando Valley by immigrant parents, she has focused her career on poverty alleviation, homelessness prevention, economic development, and social justice. Elected to the California State Assembly in 2024, she serves on committees including Health, Higher Education, Human Services, Water, Parks, and Wildlife, and Budget. Notable achievements include serving as Mayor of San Fernando after her 2020 City Council election, overseeing Los Angeles' Guaranteed Basic Income pilot and Child Savings Accounts as Deputy Director of Community Development Strategies, and acting as the first racial equity officer for her agency under former Mayor Eric Garcetti. She lives in San Fernando with her husband and two children.
