Cedric Solosolo Asuega Gates is a Democratic politician and a lifetime resident of Wai'anae, Hawaii. He served as a member of the Hawaii House of Representatives for District 45 from 2017 to 2025, becoming the youngest state legislator at age 23 upon taking office. He was reelected in 2018, 2020, and 2022 for multiple terms, chairing the House Committee on Agriculture and Food Systems, and serving on the committees for Consumer Protection & Commerce and Energy & Environmental Protection. In 2024, he ran unsuccessfully for State Senate District 22 , losing to Republican Samantha DeCorte. Notable achievements include being honored in 2013 by Governor Neil Abercrombie as an Outstanding Advocate for Children and Youth, co-founding the Active Hawai'i nonprofit in 2011 to promote community wellness, and prior roles as Chairman of the Wai'anae Coast Neighborhood Board #24 and on the Wai'anae Coast Comprehensive Health Center's Board of Directors. He has worked for the U.S. Congress, Honolulu City Council, and Hawaii State Capitol.
