Biography

Cecil Antonio Brockman is an American politician and former Democratic member of the North Carolina House of Representatives for District 60 . A native of High Point, North Carolina, he served from 2015 until his resignation on October 31, 2025, after six terms. He is openly bisexual and was one of four openly LGBT members of the North Carolina General Assembly. Notable achievements include sponsoring bills to repeal HB2, enact a Retail Workers’ Bill of Rights, expand law enforcement body cameras, establish comprehensive healthcare, and provide free school meals for low-income students. He championed social and economic justice, particularly in education.

Education and Political Experience

  • Education: Earned a degree in political science from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte .
  • Political Experience: Worked on several North Carolina political campaigns before entering office. First elected in 2014 , reelected multiple times . Served on committees including Education Appropriations , Agriculture and Environment, Homeland Security/Military/Veterans’ Affairs, Health, and the Select Committee on Redistricting. Resigned October 31, 2025.
