Carrie Semmelroth is a Democratic Idaho State Senator representing District 17 . Appointed by Governor Brad Little in November 2021 to complete the term of former Senator Ali Rabe, she was sworn in and served the full 2022 legislative session. A long-time Boise Bench resident, she lives with her partner Graham, two bonus kids, dog Buckley, and cat Livingston. She has served three terms and was last active as of April 1, 2026. Notable roles include higher education focus, service in education since 2003, Exceptional Child Generalist Idaho teaching certification , and Bogus Basin ski patrol volunteer.
