Biography
Carrie Koelker is a Republican Iowa State Senator representing District 33, based in Dyersville, Iowa. Born in 1970 in Stanton, she is a lifelong Iowan, mother of four, and attends St. Francis Xavier Basilica. She serves as Assistant Majority Leader and brings over 28 years of experience in tourism and economic development, currently as Vice President of Community Engagement at Travel Dubuque. Previously, she was Executive Director of Eastern Iowa Tourism from 2000 to 2023 and worked at the Dubuque Chamber of Commerce Convention & Visitor's Bureau from 1994 to 2000. She has been deeply involved in her community, serving on boards including the Dyersville Area Community Foundation, Iowa Tourism Industry Partners, Enhance Iowa Board, Iowa Finance Authority, and Iowa Economic Development Authority. Notable committee roles include Vice Chair of Commerce, Ways and Means, and Technology; she also chairs the Transportation, Infrastructure, and Capitals Appropriations Subcommittee, and serves on Appropriations, Rules and Administration, State Government, Workforce, and others.
