Representative Carolyn G. Logan

Carolyn G. Logan is a Democratic member of the North Carolina House of Representatives, representing District 101 in Mecklenburg County since 2019. She is a trailblazing former law enforcement officer known for her work on public safety, veterans' affairs, and state personnel issues.

Born July 5, 1957, Carolyn Green Logan grew up in Asheville, North Carolina. She became the first Black female police officer in the Asheville Police Department in 1977 and broke further barriers in 1984 as the first Black female trooper in the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, serving until her retirement in 2007. A mother of three children—Christopher, Morgan, and Taelor—she entered politics after retiring, winning her first election for House District 101 in 2018 following Rep. Beverly Earle's retirement. Logan serves on key committees including Appropriations, Homeland Security, Military, and Veterans Affairs, and State Personnel, and acts as Democratic Caucus Shadow Chair for State Personnel and Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government. Her notable achievements include the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, Trailblazer Award from the Black Women's Caucus, and Pioneer Award from the North State Law Enforcement Officers Association. She advocates for Medicaid expansion, teacher raises, minimum wage increases, school bus safety, and support for pregnant workers and more state troopers in Mecklenburg County.
