Carolyn B. Jackson is a Democratic state representative for Indiana House District 1, which includes portions of Lake County in Northwest Indiana, particularly Hammond. Elected on November 6, 2018, she serves as Assistant Democratic Whip for the Indiana House Democrats, Ranking Democrat on the House Elections and Apportionment Committee, and Vice Chair of the Indiana Black Legislative Caucus. She is a member of the Environmental Affairs, Family, Children and Human Affairs, and Natural Resources committees. Notable achievements include 30 years of service retiring as a probation officer and supervisor with the Cook County Adult Probation Department, board service with the Truth Initiative Foundation to combat youth nicotine use, and past leadership as president of the Community Center Development Corporation and Hammond Library Advisory Board. She is affiliated with the Hammond Branch NAACP, Northwest Indiana League of Women Voters, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and is a devoted wife to Eric, mother of two sons , and grandmother who enjoys skiing, golfing, gardening, and traveling.

Education and Political Experience
