Biography
Carolyn S. Caton is a Republican member of the Missouri House of Representatives representing District 33 in southeast Jackson County, including parts of Blue Springs, Greenwood, Lake Lotawana, and Lone Jack. Elected in 2024 after defeating incumbent Chris Sander in the Republican primary, she ran unopposed in the general election and serves two-year terms. Born in Kansas City and raised in Blue Springs, she returned to the area 17 years ago after working in the transportation industry across several states; she has over 22 years of experience in sales and management there. A self-described Christian conservative, she is secretary of the Jackson County Republican Party, an Elder and worship leader in her church, and supports Donald Trump, opposes abortion and gun control, favors school choice with tax dollars, and backs restrictions on medical treatment for transgender minors.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Earned an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Baker University while working multiple jobs; obtained a Master of Science in Public Service Administration from the University of Evansville, where she served as Terminal Manager for Roadway Express and studied at Harlaxton College in England.
- Political Experience: Served on the Blue Springs Park Commission from June 1990 to July 1993; currently Secretary for the Jackson County Republican Party; elected to Missouri House District 33 in 2024.
