Biography
Carolyn Branagan is a Republican representing Franklin-1 in the Vermont House of Representatives. Born on June 5, 1954, in Windsor, Vermont, she became a resident of Georgia, Vermont, in 1963. She is married to Chris Branagan, has three grown children and three grandchildren, and is active in her Baptist church. Her hobbies include cooking, gardening, and genealogy. Notable achievements include being selected as Vermont Mother of the Year in 2010, and serving on boards such as the Franklin County Home Health Board, University of Vermont Board of Trustees, Georgia Historical Society, and Vermont State Historical Society. She has volunteered at the Vermont Maple Festival, St. Albans Soup Kitchen, St. Albans Homeless Shelter, and Friends of the Northern Lake.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Attended public schools in Windsor, Vermont; earned a BS in 1976 and MEd in 1982 from the University of Vermont.
- Professional Experience: Taught elementary school in Fairfax and Fairfield; served as principal of Fairfield Elementary School until 1984.
- Community Service: Served on the Town of Georgia School Board, Selectboard, and as Town Moderator.
- Political Career: Member of the Vermont House of Representatives ; Member of the Vermont Senate . She holds seat number 17 in the House.
