Carlos González is a Democratic representative for the 10th Hampden District in the Massachusetts House of Representatives, serving Springfield, MA, since his election on November 4, 2014, with 97.3% of the vote. He currently holds the position of Third Division Chair. Married with five children, González has a strong background in community leadership, including founding the Massachusetts Latino Chamber of Commerce in 2004, where he served as President/CEO and assisted over 2,000 members in starting or growing businesses. He also serves as President/CEO of Nueva Esperanza in Holyoke, MA, since 2012, reorganizing it into a key advocate for the poor. Earlier roles include Aide and Deputy Chief of Staff to the Mayor of Springfield and General Manager of WSPR 1270 AM Spanish Radio Station . Notable achievements include the 2009 U.S. Small Business Administration Massachusetts Minority Small Business Champion Award and the 1998 Springfield Latino Leader Award at the New York City Puerto Rican Parade. His priority issues encompass economic development, public safety, seniors' care, housing, environment, quality of life, and education.
