Biography

Carl Ford

Carl Lindsey Ford was born on July 11, 1957. He is a Republican member of the North Carolina Senate, representing the 33rd district. He resides in China Grove, North Carolina, and is a member of City Revival Church in Kannapolis.

Ford has built a career spanning business, public service, and politics. From 1973 to 1982, he worked at Cannon Mills in Kannapolis as a section man and managed Fryes Roller Rink in Concord. In 1982, he began working at radio station WRKB, and in 1992, he purchased WRKB and WRNA, establishing Ford Broadcasting. His station has won numerous awards, and Ford has been a two-time Golden Mic winner.

Political Experience

Ford's political involvement spans several decades. He served on the Rowan County Department of Social Services Board for seven and a half years and the Rowan County Planning Board for two years. He was named Rowan County Republican of the Year in 2007 and 2008.

From 2008 to 2012, Ford served as a Rowan County Commissioner, including two-year terms as Vice-Chair and Chair. In 2012, he was elected to the North Carolina House of Representatives, representing the 76th district. In the House, he served as committee chair for the Committee on State and Local Government for two terms.

In August 2017, Ford decided to run for the North Carolina Senate. He was subsequently elected and has now completed four terms in the Senate . Currently, he serves as Senate Republican Joint Caucus Leader and holds committee positions including membership on the Senate Committee on Finance and Senate Appropriations on General Government. He also serves as Co-Chair of the Joint Legislative Committee on Local Government and Chairman of the Subcommittee on General Government and Information Technology.
