Biography
Carl J. Bjerke is a Republican senator representing District 5 in the Idaho State Senate, based in Coeur d'Alene. A retired Deputy Chief of Operations for the City of Santa Monica Fire Department with 32 years in public safety, he brings expertise from roles including respiratory therapist, firefighter, paramedic, captain, battalion chief, and training chief. He won the 2024 primary and general election for his seat. Notable legislative work includes sponsoring bills on insurance coverage for anticancer medications.
