Biography
Candice Pierucci is a Republican serving in the Utah House of Representatives for District 49, which covers portions of Herriman and Riverton in Salt Lake County. Appointed in November 2019 at age 27, she became the youngest member of the Utah Legislature and the youngest woman elected to the House that year. She currently holds key leadership roles, including chair of the House Education Committee and majority caucus manager. Notable achievements include passing historic school choice legislation paired with Utah's largest teacher pay increase, earning the 2024 Toll Fellowship from The Council of State Governments, and founding the Republican Women Lead PAC, which has raised over $100,000 to support more than 40 women candidates. As a young mother, she advocated for family-friendly changes like adding baby changing tables in legislative bathrooms.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in political science from Utah Valley University; master's degree in public administration from the University of Utah.
- Political Experience: Interned in the Washington, D.C. office of U.S. Senator Mike Lee ; worked for U.S. Representative Chris Stewart ; served as development director for the Sutherland Institute, a conservative think tank.
