Biography

Camille Y. Lilly is a Democratic member of the Illinois House of Representatives, representing the 78th District, which includes Chicago's Austin neighborhood and suburbs such as Oak Park, River Forest, Forest Park, Elmwood Park, Franklin Park, and River Grove. A lifelong resident of Chicago's Greater West Side, she was appointed to the House in April 2010 and currently serves as Assistant Majority Leader. She is known for advancing health equity, educational opportunity, economic development, affordable healthcare, strong schools, and green initiatives in underserved communities. Notable achievements include past leadership as Chair of the Illinois Legislative Black Caucus and Illinois House Democratic Women’s Caucus; Vice Chair of the Appropriations–Human Services and Appropriations–Public Safety Committees; and Chair of the Museums, Arts & Cultural Enhancement Committee. Prior to elected office, she directed programs reducing infant mortality, raised millions for community revitalization at Bethel New Life and Loretto Hospital, founded the Austin Chamber of Commerce creating over 500 youth jobs and 400 retail positions, and built health scholarship and wellness partnerships.

Pre-legislative roles: Director of West Garfield Park Families with a Future , Vice President of Beth-Anne Life Centre, Director/Chief External Affairs Officer at Loretto Hospital, founder/Executive Director of Austin Chamber of Commerce.
