J. Cameron Henry, Jr. is a Republican State Senator representing District 9 in Louisiana, which covers Jefferson Parish including Old Metairie, Old Jefferson, Airline Park, and parts of uptown New Orleans. He is currently serving his second term and was unanimously elected Senate President for the 2024-2028 term, making him the 11th president of the Louisiana Senate and fifth in line of succession to the governor. Prior to the Senate, he served 12 years in the Louisiana House of Representatives for District 82, often re-elected without opposition. Notable achievements include selection as one of the Washington Post's Top 40 Under 40 in 2014 and third most influential elected official in Louisiana by the Times-Picayune in 2016; he is recognized as a common-sense conservative with strong legislative knowledge from service in both chambers.
