Biography
Caleb Seth Kleinpeter is a Republican member of the Louisiana State Senate representing District 17, which includes parishes such as East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Lafayette, Pointe Coupee, St. Helena, St. Landry, St. Martin, West Baton Rouge, and West Feliciana. Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, he assumed office on December 6, 2022, succeeding Rick Ward III and is eligible to serve through the 2032-2036 term. He is married to Kayne Daigle and has three children. Kleinpeter served in the United States Marine Corps as a rifleman from 2001 to 2005, with deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, earning an honorable discharge. Since 2011, he has worked as a pipeline technician at Enterprise Products.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduate of Brusly High School; holds a Bachelor of Science in Business.
- Political Experience: Elected to the Louisiana State Senate in November 2022. Serves as Chair of the Senate and Governmental Affairs Committee and the Senate Select Committee on Homeland Security; also chairs the Select Committee on Military and Veterans Affairs. Additional roles include Judiciary C, interim member of Finance, Natural Resources, Atchafalaya Basin Program Oversight Committee, Joint Legislative Committee on the Budget, and Legislative Budgetary Control Council; member of the Acadiana Delegation.
