Biography
Caleb Hemmer is a Democratic representative for District 59 in the Tennessee House of Representatives, elected in 2022 to serve the southern border of Davidson County, including parts of Nashville. Born on July 22, 1981, he is a native Nashvillian, husband to Lori, and father to Evan and Norah. He currently serves as chair of the Davidson County Delegation and sits on committees including Health, Insurance, Government Operations, Commerce, and Private Acts. Notable achievements include passing legislation for consumer transparency, public education improvements, affordable housing , and combating vehicle gun thefts, which received national attention including New York Times coverage. He has announced he will not seek re-election after his term ends in November 2026.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduate of Metro Nashville Public Schools ; B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville; M.B.A. in Finance from Tennessee Tech.
- Political Experience: Aide to Governor Phil Bredesen; executive in the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development; commissioner on the Metro Board of Fair Commissioners for seven years, leading Nashville Fairgrounds redevelopment including a new expo center and MLS stadium. Prior to politics, founding team member at Silicon Ranch Corporation and healthcare executive, currently Vice President at Longevity Health Plans focusing on affordable care for seniors in post-acute facilities. Community roles include founder of Plan Smart Nashville, Voter Protection Team for Tennessee Democratic Party, and various volunteer positions.
