Senator Byron Pelton is a Republican representing Colorado Senate District 1, which encompasses Logan, Morgan, Phillips, Sedgwick, Washington, Weld, and Yuma counties in northeast Colorado. A Colorado native born in Cheyenne County and longtime resident of Logan County , he is a Navy veteran who served as an electrician repairing ships during Desert Storm, later becoming a master electrician, and now works as an electrician and rancher. Notable achievements include sponsoring a bipartisan bill to strengthen human trafficking law enforcement, advocating for rural Colorado issues like agriculture , small rural schools, behavioral health resources, tax relief, energy production , Second Amendment rights, law enforcement, and protecting local governments from urban legislative burdens. He serves as Minority Caucus Chair and is on the Senate Committee on Legislative Council.
